About Gentle Doctor In-Home Veterinary Care
Dr. de Jong started a housecall practice in 2008, providing in-home services for veterinary acupuncture. In 2011, she decided to expand her services to include traditional veterinary care along with home euthanasia.
Dr. de Jong feels many pets (and their owners) benefit from having veterinary care provided in the home environment. She is especially dedicated to helping the senior and geriatric pets and pet owners, as getting to the vet is challenging. She realizes many pets are not receiving proper veterinary care just because the trip to the vet is very difficult.
Dr. de Jong graduated from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. A Delco native, she returned to the area after graduation and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery. She completed her post doctoral training and certification in veterinary acupuncture in 2008 through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Socity (IVAS). She has had extensive continuing education in the field of veterinary hospice and end of life care, and was one of the first veterinarians to be certified in 2017 by the IAAHPC in veterinary hospice and palliative care. She is a member of the AVMA and IAAHPC.
